Americans with Disabilities Act Training

The University of Connecticut (University) is committed to maintaining a working environment free of discrimination based on disability and other legally protected characteristics.

In keeping with this commitment, the University provides a limited number of training sessions designed to equip supervisors and managers with an understanding of the applicable standards, definitions, and processes related to the institution’s duty to provide reasonable accommodations that permit otherwise qualified employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their work.

In addition to providing a survey of the applicable legal, regulatory and policy standards, the course provides participants with an overview of the reasonable accommodation process used at the University and offers practical consideration and guidance for managers on topics such as disability-related inquiries and examinations; disability-related misconduct, attendance and/or performance issues; and the duty to maintain confidentiality of medical information.
