Discrimination and Discriminatory Harassment Prevention
Welcome to the University of Connecticut’s (University) discrimination and discriminatory harassment (including sexual harassment) prevention office, the Office of Diversity and Equity (ODE).
ODE is a neutral investigatory unit within the University that was created by statute and charged with investigating internal discrimination and discriminatory harassment complaints (including but not limited to Title VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act) from employees; individuals who have business with the University and/or approved use of University facilities (vendors and contractors); and persons who are interviewed for vacant positions. Students are also protected under Title IX of the 1972 Educational Amendments.
For employees at the Corrections Managed Health Care (CMHC) division, ODE acts as the enforcement body per the Stipulated Agreement and State of Connecticut Department of Correction Administrative Directive 2.2.
ODE is the University's only neutral investigatory unit charged with investigating and resolving internal discrimination and discriminatory harassment complaints from individuals who are injured by the discriminatory behavior of a University employee or University vendor. ODE is further charged with making findings and recommendations designed to mitigate the harm caused by discriminatory conduct and to prevent recurrence of discriminatory conduct.
